Calabasas Photo Contest – Submission Guidelines & Contest Rules

Submission Guidelines

  • Photos must be taken within Calabasas.

  • Photos must be un-mounted and printed on photographic stock.

  • Original photos may be cropped for better composition. Minimal manipulation of digital images with the intention of accurately rendering the subject is acceptable (eg: small adjustments to brightness, contrast, color balance and/or sharpness is acceptable.)  No other digital manipulation of an image is allowed.

  • An electronic copy of the photo must accompany each submission.  Electronic copy must be sent on CD in .jpeg format (300 dpi or higher).

  • The following information must appear on back of photo: Category, date taken, location and brief description

  • Only ONE photo per category may be submitted.

  • Photo must be taken by entrant.

  • Only Calabasas residents may enter the contest.

  • Entrant grants The “City of Calabasas” all rights to the photos. Submissions will not be returned.

  • Any submission which does not meet the above criteria will not be considered.

Include a $10.00 non-refundable submission fee per adult applicant, and a $5.00 non-refundable submission fee per youth applicant. Money is payable by cash, credit card or check made payable to City of Calabasas.    

  • Photos will be judged on composition, general appeal and technical merit.

Entrant Categories

Youth (Under 18 years of age)
Cell phone images may be used if they meet submission criteria.

Adult Amateur (18+)
Cell phone images are not permitted.

Adult Professional (18+)
Cell phone images are not permitted. Photographers must be of professional status.

Prizes:

All finalists will have their photographs prominently displayed at the 2008 Calabasas Fine Arts Festival (May 3 & 4, 2008 behind the library). Winners of each category will be announced at 2008 Calabasas Fine Arts Festival on Sunday, May 4, 2008.  Prizes are as follows:

Youth/Teen:  $50.00 gift card to Regal Cinema’s (Edwards Theaters)

Adult Amateur: $150.00 gift card to Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza

Adult Professional: $250.00 gift card to Four Seasons Hotel
